Lenoir County Courthouse
Lenoir, NC

Built in 1938, the Lenoir County Courthouse is representative of the WPA/Art Modern style and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

In addition to renovating the existing structure, Jenkins•Peer designed a 45,000-sf addition, duplicating the mass and proportion of the existing building. The addition is clad in matching sandstone, which is articulated to recall the style and feel of the original structure.

Old and new buildings are joined by a two-story lobby, with a continuous skylight that bathes the interior with light.
