Foundation for the Carolinas
Charlotte, NC

Jenkins•Peer is working with the Foundation for the Carolinas to prepare for the relocation of their corporate offices to one of Charlotte's Center City landmarks. Designed by Charlotte architect Louis Asbury in 1926, the four-story structure formerly served as Montaldo's Department Store and has been home to the Mint Museum of Craft + Design since 1988. The building's renovation will transform the existing 82,000 sf of space into corporate offices to support the Foundation's role as a civic leader in the region's philanthropic community.

About Foundation for the Carolinas
Established as a community foundation, Foundation for the Carolinas is a nonprofit corporation created by and for the people of the Carolinas. The Foundation helps individuals, families, nonprofits and corporations make a positive impact on their communities. Today, the Foundation is one of the largest community foundations in the Southeast and among the top 10 in the United States.
 

The comprehensive renovation will include:

  • Repurposing existing space to include reception and waiting area on the first floor, with gllery space to display the Luski artglass collection
  • Staff offices and meeting rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floors
  • A 4th floor conference center
  • A 336-sf commercial kitchen and 400-sf catering kitchen
  • Code compliance, up-dated building systems and sustainable design features
