Clyde and Ethel Dickson Domestic Violence Shelter

SafeAlliance
Charlotte, NC

Design for the new 40,000-sf transitional housing offers a safe haven for victims of domestic violence, providing a home-like setting, security, and a variety of services to build self-sufficiency including crisis intervention, counseling, and education.

The 80-bed shelter shares an 11.5-acre site with Charlotte Rescue Mission’s Dove’s Nest facility and is convenient to public transportation and other support services. The new shelter is much larger than its predecessor, allowing SafeAlliance to serve more individuals and families and accommodate longer stays. Features include:

  • Counseling rooms
  • Crisis hotline rooms
  • Cafeteria / dining rooms
  • Children’s library
  • School room
  • Employment resource center
  • Health clinic
