Community Life Center Addition

Christ Episcopal Church of Charlotte
Charlotte, NC

Located in Charlotte’s historic Myers Park neighborhood, the renovation and expansion of Christ Episcopal Church was thoughtfully executed as a phased project. The work began with a parking lot expansion, followed by the strategic reconfiguration of meeting rooms and offices to establish a new Center for Well-Being. Additional updates included modifications to several Pre-K classrooms, culminating in a 15,000-sf addition that now houses a vibrant Community Life Center and Youth Center.

The Center for Well-Being evolved from a modest setup—two counselor offices sharing meeting rooms with the broader church—to a dedicated suite designed to foster healing and growth. The new space includes five private offices, two dedicated meeting rooms, a welcoming reception area, and a shared contemplation room. Rooted in Christian faith and open to all, the Center supports individuals and families on their journey toward holistic well-being.

The Community Life Center serves as a dynamic hub for connection and fellowship. It features a much-needed welcome center and parlor, along with a 5,000-sf “living room” furnished with flexible arrangements of soft seating and tables to accommodate social gatherings, small meetings, and large events. A coffee shop with a catering kitchen enhances hospitality, while the upper-level Youth Center connects to additional meeting rooms located above the church’s administrative wing in the adjacent building. The addition also introduces a serene outdoor courtyard—ideal for reflection, informal meetings, and community activities around a central fire pit.
